SOWING THE SEEDS 2013

sowing the seeds

MUSIC FESTIVAL

It was a sunny and warm day in Johannesburg even though it is middle of winter, it was pretty warm I thought to myself whilst packing the car and getting ready to take an hours drive from Johannesburg to Balfour. That’s where the SOWING THE SEEDS 2013 Music Festival was taking place over the weekend.

We had made a mission earlier in the morning to fetch a 2 man tent from a friend that we had planned to use for the weekend. Me not being the biggest of campers was kinda dreading the whole making a tent and putting all the pegs and poles together, in fact It reminds me to much of manual labour and that is the last thing on my mind over this weekend. But to my surprise it was one of these new design tents that fold up like a car sun viser and all I had to do was fluff it up and Viola it would be up and ready and the best part is that it was a 3 man tent and not a 2 man tent so more space to stretch our legs.

SIGNAGE

The drive took us only an hour to get there and we had the best of luck because, as we arrived the sun was setting and I was able to capture it on Camera just before finding a spot and setting up camp for the weekend.

We then decided to go and take a walk around the Estate and check everything out. The layout was pretty awesome with the Stage on the left of you as entered the Arena with a chill lounge to your right and a bar straight in front of you. Next to the Bar area there was the Electric dance area along with some more chill areas and then the food stalls. The Decor was pretty epic with these Huge statues of the BIG 5 placed all around. If you had attended the “WE ARE ONE colour festival” you would know what I’m talking about, if you didn’t make the colour festival then below is a picture of one of the Statues.

After our little mission around the Estate we decided to head back to the tent as all the walking around had made me Hungry and it was time for dinner. I think it must have been roughly 45min and then I was out cold for the night. Upon waking up it was freezing cold and desperately needed a warm cup of coffee. We got dressed and took our little urn Backstage to be filled up with water and to make coffee and by that time the first Band BACKLIGHT PANDA were starting to set up and do a sound check. I was in a good mood as I was informed that I was going to be able to interview the Band after their performance. (Interview to follow these images)

end of interview   After an interesting yet funny and enjoyable interview with the members of Blacklight Panda I was making my way back to the Media tent when I noticed a man with a Dreadlock hairstyle just standing around patiently, waiting for someone. As I get closer he says “Are you Dale? I think we have an interview scheduled for now I’m Dubmasta China” to which I reply ” Yes that’s me, Nice to meet you.” Where would you like to sit and I pointed to a Sunny spot on the grass not to far from the Media tent.  We decided to take a seat on the grass and in the Sun and I began to start my interview… (Please note that All interview Questions are the Same for all Bands)
