LET’S GET PERSONAL WITH SHORTSTRAW

Rock On The Lawns ft the Pixies

About 2 weeks ago I received an email from a publicist named Jeni Fletcher asking if I would like to interview all the SA Support Acts who will be performing at ROCK ON THE LAWNS featuring the PIXIES this March.

I did not hesitate for more than two seconds and immediately replied yes, please.

So I thought that instead of asking each support act different questions that I would simply ask each act the same questions.

So without wasting any more time

HERE IS WHAT THE THIRD SA SUPPORT ACT HAD TO SAY AHEAD OF THEIR PERFORMANCE AT ROCK ON THE LAWNS featuring the PIXIES

LET’S GET PERSONAL WITH ALASTAIR THOMAS OF SHORTSTRAW

  1. What are your thoughts about being selected as one of the support acts to open for The Pixies at ROCK ON THE LAWNS this March?

It’s truly magic!

We’ve all been fans of Pixies since we knew what music was, so to open for them is a total bucket list tick.

  1. What has been your best moment or moments on stage?

The first time a packed Oppikoppi crowd sang one of our songs back to us in full force it gave us all hoendervleis.

  1. What has been your worst moment or moments on stage?

Tom has a very weak bladder,

so there’ve been a few times where a solo has been missed cos Tom has run off to the toilet.

That’s never ideal.

  1. Do you have any kind of lucky charm that you take with you on tour?

Just our positive attitudes and boyish charm.

  1. Do you perform any special ritual before going on stage?

We do, but it’s a secret.

  1. Which superhero would you be and why?

I would be ‘always says the right thing in awkward situations’ man.

  1. Name any 3 people that you’d Marry, Shag and throw off a cliff

Marry: Barack Obama

Shag: Anyone who has sexed Ed Sheeran

Throw off a cliff: Martin Shkreli

  1. What inspires your music?

Melody.

  1. Imagine if you had just won 100 Million Rand, bought 6 cars, 1 jet plane, 4 houses across the world. What would you have for breakfast?

Something high in fibre.

You have to stay regular.

  1. What can fans look forward to in 2017?

The collapse of the US dollar.
