Marmalade Productions is proud to present Divas Cape Town 2017 featuring: International dance diva, Sybil, SA stars, Jamali, Salome, Vuvu Kumalo, G&T, Fancy Galada and Nuraan Boltman.
All the artists featured on the line-up have all performed in successful shows around the country over many years. These diverse spectacular Divas together on one grand stage in May. Our successful brand Divas has hosted thousands of people and our new show will not disappoint. Marmalade Productions will elevate the brand and bring you the best entertainment in one packed show.
Sybil achieved worldwide crossover hits with her cover versions of Dionne Warwick’s hits “Don’t Make Me Over” and “Walk on by”, which were released in 1989 and 1990, respectively. The former became Sybil’s biggest hit in the USA, peaking at #20, and was a #1 hit in New Zealand. “Walk on by” is still, to date, the highest charting position for this Burt Bacharach/Hal David classic in the UK, peaking at #6. Sybil’s second self-titled album became her biggest-selling album in the USA.
Jamali first won over South Africa’s hearts on Popstar’s 2003-2004 reality television show. With platinum album sales, sold out concerts and top music awards under their belt, Jamali has never looked back. Their first self-titled album, hit platinum sales and set Jamali on the road to success. Their three time’s SAMA (South African Music Awards) nominated second album, ‘Yours Fatally’ was a huge hit with their fans. They won the coveted SAMA for Best South African Pop Act 2009 for their 3rd album, ‘3rd Base’.
Salome, born and bred Capetonian recorded her first single in 2007 with DJ Keith called “I Don’t want to Know”, which became a big hit on local radio and in 2009 recorded another great hit with DJ Keith called “What I do best”, this song hit Cape Town by storm and became a number 1 hit on the charts. Salome has also toured internationally with Madame Zingara and recorded her debut album in 2011. She is currently in studio recording her new album, which will be released later this year.
Vuvu Kumalo has long been one of the most loved female vocalists on the Cape Town nightclub scene. She has an incredibly strong voice that can belt out soul classics from all the great Motown ‘Divas’. Vuvu has a vibrant personality that comes out on stage where she is a master at getting crowds behind her amazing vocal performances and stage presence.
G&T, introducing SA female duo G&T – Shelley Gordon and Sarah-Jane Thomas form the newly created music duo that is taking the country by storm. Created by Chad Saaiman and Stereotype Talent Management, they are fun, playful and vivacious girls that take you on a musical journey covering your favourite and greatest modern hits. G&T are currently in studio recording their debut single.
Fancy Galada has been an active member of groups such as Heshoo Beshoo, Amampondo and, together with Labella, launched the pop / R&B duo La Fancy in 1995. Fancy has toured internationally around the world working with top musicians. Her talent for dancing was discovered, and she was then introduced to Jazzart, working with a multicultural group of dancers and singers called Abamanyani, who performed at the Grahamstown Festival and various other venues around the country.
Nuraan Boltman, formerly known as Dezi Anders has been on the entertainment circuit for more than three decades. Fronting the legendary ballroom band, Ikey Gamba Dance Band when she was just 16. She was also the lead in the band Coco which eventually became known as Horizon. She rose to prominence as a saxophonist and became a sought-after musician / singer at various nightclubs where Jazz music was the order of the day.
Camillo Lombard – Music Director, pianist, composer, arranger, producer and recording artist. He is widely travelled and a sought-after performer and has performed at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival regularly, toured with various bands to many countries around the world. Camillo has performed with local and international music greats. Having a good understanding of the business practice of the music industry, Camillo is helping future generation of musicians acquire this knowledge, a vision he has for all musicians.
